WINSTON-SALEM — The eighth-grade Team Peak Black won the Bond Ballers R Us Tournament May 4 in Winston-Salem. Brooke Scheffler led Team Peak by scoring 10.6 points per game, while Kate Sears and Katie Durham each scored eight points per game. Carolina Farthing scored 7.6 points per game and the team made 54.8 percent of its shots.

Team Peak, which is coached by Andy Eggers and Kalie Eppley, beat Team Loaded 45-16, Felton Pink 47-11 and the Carolina All-Stars 44-24. Team Peak, which is run by Watauga High boys’ and girls’ basketball coach Laura Barry, is 11-6 this year and has won two tournaments. It has also finished second in two others.

“This team is really fun to watch and has really started to gel as the season has progressed,” Barry said in a statement. “They consistently share the ball and the scoring, and this weekend they really figured out how much of a difference their defense can make to take over games.”
