TROY, Ala. – The Appalachian State women's basketball team fell to Troy 95-66 on March 7 at Trojan Arena.

App State shot just 36.6 percent from the field and hit only four 3-pointers. The Mountaineers and Trojans both had 16 offensive rebounds, but Troy held an 18-7 edge in second-chance points.

Pre Stanley led the Mountaineers (15-13, 9-8 SBC) in scoring with team-high 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field. It's the highest outing for Stanley since her season-high 23 points against the Trojans (21-7, 12-5 SBC) at the Holmes Center.

Appalachian State’s Lainey Gosnell scored 11 points for her sixth straight game in double figures, while Tierra Wilson rounded out the leading scorers with 10 points.

Bayley Plummer posted her 10th game of the season with at least 15 boards by snagging a game-high 15 rebounds. Plummer is now fifth all-time in career rebounds with 864 boards, surpassing Maryah Sydnor (2011-14).

Ashley Polacek led the Mountaineers with seven assists.

The Trojans went up by 38-21 in the second quarter, but the Mountaineers dug in and went on a 13-4 run over the final 5:05 of the half to slice the lead to 42-34. After Troy went up 42-29, App State ended the half on a 5-0 burst highlighted by a buzzer-beating field goal from Madi Story off a missed free throw.

Plummer started the third quarter by scoring down low, which cut the Troy advantage to 42-36. Stanley kept the Mountaineers within striking distance on two occasions at six points.

A layup later in the frame by Stanley put the score to 52-46. The momentum stopped there with Troy going on a 14-0 run late in the quarter to pull away the rest of the game.
