Former App State offensive lineman Parker Collins (75) signed a free agent deal with the Carolina Panthers.

CHARLOTTE — Former Appalachian State offensive lineman Parker Collins signed a free-agent contract with the Carolina Panthers April 8.

Collins was playing for the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football when the league ceased operations on April 2. He was on he Legends’ injured list after suffering a sprained ankle.

Collins, after a standout career at Appalachian State, went undrafted in 2017 draft. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, was released, and then signed with the Los Angeles Rams before being released. He spent part of the 2018 offseason with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The North Augusta, S.C. native was named first-team all-Sun Belt Conference his senior year while playing center for the Mountaineers. He was second-team all-Sun Belt Conference in 2015 as App State’s starting left guard.

“Excited and blessed to be in the Queen City,” Collins said on Twitter.
