BOONE — Appalachian State received its sixth commitment for its football recruiting class of 2020 on June 24 from defensive back Ronald Clarke.
Clarke, who is from Hoschton, Ga., preps at Mill Creek High School.
He announced his commitment to App State on his Twitter account.
“I am very blessed to be in the position I am today and would like to announce my commitment to Appalachian State University,” Clarke tweeted.
Clarke stands 6-foot-0 and weighs 185 pounds. He made 54 total tackles; 45 of them were solo stops and four of them went for a loss in yardage. He also had one interception and one fumble recovery.
Mill Creek finished 8-4 overall, 5-1 in its region. Mill Creek reached the second round of the state 7A playoffs.
Clarke is the second player in the recruiting class to commit to App State since Eli Wilson committed to the Mountaineers on June 20. Wilson is a 6-3, 212-pound tight end who preps at Wren High School in Piedmont, S.C.
Wilson caught 60 passes for 1,140 yards and 12 touchdowns for Wren. He averaged 19.0 yards per catch. Wilson also announced his decision on Twitter.
“I am very excited to announce that I have committed to Appalachian State University to continue my football and academic career,” Wilson tweeted.
