It has been a little more than 90 days since Randy Collins left this world as we know it.
All of us are adjusting to the new normal of not having his wisdom, smile and calm nature with a little mischievousness added into our everyday lives.
It is with much gratitude that I thank this community for the love, respect and thoughtfulness they have shared with me and the Collins family as we take on this new chapter in our lives. Thank you is such a simple phrase, but it comes dearly from my heart.
To each first responder, fire department, law enforcement officer, Watauga Rescue, Watauga Medics, Watauga Medical Center, Med Center Air, Wings, Casa Rustica, Appalachian Athletics, Boone United Methodist Church, Hampton Funeral Service, the press, the folks that texted, called, sent flowers and cards, came by, sent donations and food, I send you a simple note of thanks. We are a strong community that takes care of our own and I am much appreciative.
As we move forward into this holiday season, I wish for you much love and happiness. Randy would advise you to eat dessert first and I add to spread the love and cheer among yourselves, for in the blink of an eye all can change.
Many thanks again and here’s to new adventures in 2019.
