The National Weather Service office in Blacksburg, Va., has extended a winter weather advisory for Ashe and Watauga counties in effect from 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, through 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5. 

"The first round of measuring snow showers concluded this morning, but the second is starting to enter the region from the northwest," the NWS stated. "This next round of snow showers may produce up to an additional inch of snow across parts of the advisory area as we head into the afternoon hours."

Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.
