BOONE — One man was hospitalized following a head-on wreck on Industrial Park Drive around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 7, according to Boone Police.
According to J.B. Aldred of Boone Police, a white Ford C-Max Hybrid was going up the hill in front of Charleston Forge at 251 Industrial Drive when it crossed over the center line and collided with a VIP Courier Express box truck that was heading the opposite direction on the two-lane road.
The driver of the Ford, Jim Darrell Storts of Boone, was transported by Watauga Medics with head and neck injuries. The driver of the box truck, Troy Daren Smart Sr. of Lenoir, was unharmed.
Storts was cited with driving left of center, according to Boone Police spokesperson Geoff Hayes. Estimated damages were $3,500 to the Ford and $8,000 to the box truck, Hayes said.
Industrial Park Drive remained closed for over 30 minutes as Boone Fire cleaned up the spilled fluids and debris. Hampton’s Body Shop towed the Ford.
