June 16

ARREST: Avery Allen Simmons Sr., 39, of 277 Copna Greene Road, Deep Gap, was arrested and charged with four counts of traffic violations. Simmons was issued a $500 secured bond and a July 22 court date.

June 17

BREAKING/ENTERING: Breaking and entering a building was reported in the 200 block of Cool Water Creek, Vilas.

ORDER FOR ARREST: An order for arrest on a failure to appear charge was reported in the 100 block of Riverside Drive, Banner Elk.

OFFENSE: An offense of someone reportedly shooting a dog was reported in the 900 block of Reese Road, Vilas.

June 18

ARREST: Daniel Patrick Triplett, 46, of 329 Meadow Hill Road, Apt. 32, Deep Gap, was arrested and charged with failure to report a new address for a sex offender. Triplett was issued a $35,000 secured bond and a July 26 court date.

ARREST: Austin Cory Barrett, 27, of 3750 Townhouse Way, Unit 1, Lenoir, was arrested on a warrant for arrest on a breaking and entering charge and charged with larceny after breaking/entering. Barrett was issued a $10,000 secured bond and a July 26 court date.

ARREST: Sonia Garcia, 37, of 116 Shagbark Road, Beech Mountain, was arrested on an order for arrest on a failure to appear charge. Garcia was issued a $300 secured bond and a July 25 court date.

MULTIPLE OFFENSES: Possession of drug paraphernalia and recovered property of a passport, Social Security card, vehicle title and two credit cards were reported in the 4000 block of U.S. 421 North, Vilas.

June 19

LARCENY: Felony larceny of a Ruger pistol was reported in the 8400 block of U.S. 421 North, Vilas.

VANDALISM: Destruction/damage/vandalism of a blanket and wall placard were reported in the 100 block of Parkway Ridge, Boone.

MULTIPLE OFFENSES: Kidnapping/abduction, assault by pointing a gun and simple assault were reported in the 700 block of Old U.S. 421 South, Boone.

June 20

ARREST: Thomas David Hughes, 27, of 544 Crocker Road, Blowing Rock, was arrested and charged with assault by pointing a gun, kidnapping/abduction, sexual battery and assault on a female. Hughes was issued a $150,000 secured bond and a July 26 court date.

ASSAULT: Assault with a deadly weapon by reportedly attempting to hit someone with a vehicle was reported in the 10000 block of N.C. 105 South, Banner Elk.

June 21

ARREST: Maggie Frances Miller, 21, of 497 Old U.S. 421 South, Boone, was arrested on a warrant for arrest on charges of kidnapping, child abuse and assault by pointing a gun. Miller was issued a $50,000 secured bond and a July 26 court date.

ARREST: Avery Allen Simmons Sr., 39, of 277 Copna Greene Road, Deep Gap, was arrested on an order for arrest on a failure to pay child support charge. Simmons was issued a $1,134 secured bond and a July 3 court date.

ARREST: David Rod Allen Davilla, 33, of 11036 N.C. 105 South, Banner Elk, was arrested and charged with failure to pay child support. Davilla was issued a $3,230 secured bond and a July 25 court date.

ARREST: Audie Marvin Williams, 42, of 10196 N.C. 105 South, Banner Elk, was arrested and charged with communicating threats and assault with a deadly weapon with a minor present. Williams was issued a $2,000 secured bond and a July 26 court date.

BREAKING/ENTERING: Burglary/breaking and entering and theft of $6,644 and a knife display were reported in the 3100 block of N.C. 105 South, Boone.

June 22

ARREST: Ryan Kent Smith, 32, of 226 Snow Flake Road, Banner Elk, was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance and served a warrant for arrest. Smith was issued a $3,500 secured bond and a July 22 court date.

PROPERTY DAMAGE: Damage to a living room window was reported in the 500 block of Slabtown Road, Zionville.

PROPERTY DAMAGE: Damage to the driver’s side of a vehicle was reported in the 1000 block of Fallview Lane, Boone.

LARCENY: Larceny of $150 and three laundry baskets was reported in the 1200 block of Brookshire Road, Boone.

FAILURE TO RETURN: Failure to return a GMC Sierra was reported in the 800 block of N.C. 105 Bypass, Boone.

June 23

ARREST: Brandin Lee Hawkins, 20, of 420 Seven Devils Road, was arrested and charged with two counts of failure to appear. Hawkins was issued a $2,000 secured bond and an Aug. 9 court date.

THEFT: Motor vehicle theft of a Nissan Rogue Sport was reported in the 800 block of Old Mountain Road, Banner Elk.

LARCENY: Felony larceny of a piece of John Deere equipment was reported in the 1800 block of Bethel Road, Sugar Grove.

BREAKING/ENTERING: Breaking and entering a building and theft of glassware, cast iron pots, a car stereo and other miscellaneous items were reported in the 200 block of Goshen Creek Lane, Boone.

CALLS: The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office reported one call for service.
