BOONE — A 20-year-old was transported to Watauga Medical Center on April 5 after a collision with a vehicle on Blowing Rock Road.

According to the Boone Police Department, witnesses stated the pedestrian ran out in front of a 2016 Tesla — driven by Jamie Docteroff Schaefer, 56, of Boca Raton, Fla. Boone Police, Watauga Medics and Boone Fire responded to the scene at 2:15 p.m.

Schaefer was traveling south on Blowing Rock Road near the Shadowline Drive intersection when the pedestrian — Rebecca-Anne Ruth Shive, 20, of Eden — crossed the road without a cross walk. Police stated the estimated speed at impact was about 20 mph.

Shive was transported to Watauga Medical Center. The extent of her injuries were unknown as of April 8.

The Tesla sustained minimal damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle, estimated to be about $200. No citations had been issued as of April 8.

I’d change the title of this article to “Pedestrian hit trying to cross section of 321 where there are no crosswalks within 1/2 mile in either direction”.
