FLEETWOOD — A 22-year-old male was transported by Wings Air Rescue from U.S. 221 near Fleetwood to Johnson City, Tenn., after suffering from a head injury on Wednesday, June 26.

Jeremiah Main, an employee of Main and Main Paving, was working on Beech Mountain when he fell from a vehicle and struck his head on the pavement around 1 p.m. Watauga Medics responded, but Main refused treatment, according to Thomas Main, owner of the company.

Later, Jeremiah Main was traveling to another job site in Ashe County when Thomas Main said he started speaking incoherently. Those with Jeremiah Main called 911, and Ashe Medics responded around 5 p.m.

After determining that Jeremiah Main could be suffering from brain bleeding, Ashe Medics contacted Wings Air Rescue. Wings was on the scene by around 5:15 p.m.

Jeremiah Main was then airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery, according to Thomas Main. His condition is now stable.
