BOONE — Appalachian State University Police received a report of an attempted robbery at 8:45 p.m. on Sept. 26.
According to App State University Police, the alleged victim reported that at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Sept. 25, he was reportedly approached by two unknown men near the intersection of Rivers Street and Stadium Drive — just south of the west expression tunnel.
The alleged victim reported to police that the men ordered him to get on the ground, checked his pants pockets and then fled northwest on foot. According to the alleged victim, no weapon was mentioned or displayed. No injuries were reported.
One alleged suspect was described as a white man, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing approximately 185 pounds and wearing a burgundy hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants. The second alleged suspect was described as a black man with a light complexion, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 175 pounds and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants.
The university stated that it is providing resources and support to assist the alleged victim in this incident. ASU Police are investigating the incident; no suspects have been identified at this time, according to police.
