Raising funds for Watauga Humane Society, brick by brick

The Boone Brick Contest held at the Boone Mall on May 25 raised about $1,800 for Watauga Humane Society. Here, contest administrator Erik Lanier stands with Ashlee Yepez, director of the Watauga Humane Society. The event was a ‘huge success,’ according to Lanier, with more than 90 entries. Some entrants take anywhere from 60 to 100 hours to assemble their creations, Lanier said. All proceeds from the contest go to the Watauga Humane Society. In 2018, the contest raised $1,203 and hosted 85 participants.
