BLOWING ROCK – The Mayview Park, home to many of Blowing Rock’s historic homes and nestled between countless trees and greenery, will be celebrating 100 years from 12-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 at the American Legion Hall in Blowing Rock.

The event is put on by the Mayview Park HOA.

According to event organizer Cynthia Payne, the earlier part of the event will have a presentation by the Blowing Rock Historical Society on the history of the park., followed by refreshments.

Famously, Mayview Park was home to the lavish 138-room Mayview Manor from 1921 until its closing in 1966 and demolition in 1978, despite efforts to save the building. Condominiums currently stand where the hotel once was, overlooking the Globe valley.
