TODD — The Todd Listening Project, which was under way since September, has ended and launched a cookbook celebrating food stories and recipes from local residents. The purpose of the process is to help Blackburn Community Outreach in determining next steps regarding the nonprofit’s revitalization efforts.
The cookbook made its debut at a launch party event hosted at Todd Mercantile on Dec. 1.
As part of BCO’s attempt to increase access to healthy food, the TLP group spoke with community members in an effort to gather favorite recipes and meaningful, rich stories about food from initial TLP participants. Community organizations that are helping in the efforts include the Todd Community Preservation Organization, Todd Ruritan Club and the Todd Mercantile.
“Working with the TLP has taught us that no matter where you go, everyone has a story,” said Natalie Spiccia, a sustainable development student. “Hearing people’s stories in Todd has reminded us that though food can bring us together, stories and feelings are what connects us on a deeper human level, no matter where you come from.”
