The Hayes School of Music on Appalachian State’s campus in Boone announces the fifth annual International William Adam Trumpet Festival, which will take place July 18-21.
Hosted by James Stokes Jr., professor of trumpet, and Brent Bingham, the annual gathering offers opportunities to perform and learn from multi-generational students of William Adam, while honoring his legacy.
The festival includes a “who’s who” of the students of William Adam, master classes, concerts and free lessons. In addition to these, there will be a seminar dedicated to problem-solving for the next generation of musical colleagues.
Special guest artist Chris Botti, a Grammy Award-winning trumpeter and composer, will present a live concert at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 19 at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts as part of An Appalachian Summer Festival.
Free events include a Festival Recital at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 19 and the Festival Jazz Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. Both concerts will take place at the Hayes School of Music.
The workshop portion of the festival is $200 per person or $75 for currently enrolled students. More information is available at williamadamtrumpet.com.
