BOONE — The two-story Wendy’s of Boone on the corner of N.C. 105 and Blowing Rock Road reopened its dining room on June 13 following weeks of interior renovation.

The renovation started in mid-May, with the drive-thru remaining open in the duration. The work included a full-scale dining room renovation and new paint on the exterior of the building. Tar Heel Capital CEO Tad Dolbier said the renovations were to bring the store up to the new Wendy’s image.

The Wendy’s of Boone building was first constructed in 1977 by original owners Jim Furman and Richard Furman. The second story was added in 1993, becoming the first two-story Wendy’s location in America.
