BOONE — The two-story Wendy’s of Boone on the corner of N.C. 105 and Blowing Rock Road will be getting an facelift.
According to Tad Dolbier, CEO of Tar Heel Capital – the Boone-based company that owns 77 Wendy’s locations across the region – the interior will be closed for four weeks from an anticipated start date of May 13.
“We’re doing a full dining room remodel to bring it up to the new Wendy’s image,” Dolbier said.
“This contemporary building features an open, bright dining room with available seating at booths, high topped tables and stools, Wi Fi access and charging stations,” a statement from Tarheel Capital said. “When you come into the restaurant you will see there is a new ordering process, including self-order kiosks, flat screen TV’s, Coca-Cola freestyle self-serve soda machines and more.”
The dining room will be closed during the remodel, but the drive-thru will remain open during the construction, Dolbier said.
The work will also include exterior paint and parking lot work.
The Wendy’s of Boone building was first constructed in 1977 by original owners Jim Furman and Richard Furman. The second story was added in 1993, becoming the first two-story Wendy’s location in America.
