BOONE — With nice weather, a crowd on the rooftop bar and deck toasted the the Horton Hotel as the Boone Area and Blowing Rock Chambers of Commerce held a grand opening event on Sunday, June 23.
“We are so incredibly proud of our sweet downtown and to be nestled in King Street,” co-owner Denise Lovin stated. “Our mission as a business is to help foster long-lasting relationships, to be a good neighbor and offer extraordinary customer service in a unique environment.”
The ribbon was cut by Denise, husband Fulton and daughter Hallie, flanked by staff.
Prior to cutting the ribbon, N.C. Rep. Ray Russell (D-Boone) issued a proclamation to the Lovins, commending them for opening the hotel and helping to preserve a piece of Boone’s history.
The 15-room boutique hotel opened in February after over a year of renovation and construction. The 800-square-foot rooftop lounge, where the ceremony took place, opened a few weeks later.
The hotel’s name comes from the building, named after H.W. Horton, who built the space in the 1920s.
