Holiday Inn sign erected

Crews put up the new Holiday Inn signage on the former Baymont Inn and Suites, located at 1075 N.C. 105 in Boone.

BOONE — Over the last year, the now-former Baymont Inn and Suites has been undergoing a complete renovation, from mattresses to air conditioning to a new restaurant and bar.

Now, the hotel at 1075 N.C. 105 is ready to rebrand as Holiday Inn Boone — University Area.

“We officially open as a Holiday Inn on May 7, said Daniel Cook, director of sales and marketing with Holiday Inn.

The hotel has remained open during the renovations, but in a limited capacity as crews renovated the hotel.

Cook said that in the last year since Blue Star Hospitality out of Asheville purchased the property, everything has been changed on the interior, including a new welcome desk with new exterior lighting.

“If it could come out of the room, it came out,” Cook said.

The renovations will make the Holiday Inn into a full-service hotel with a full kitchen, restaurant, bar and meeting space, Cook said.

The full-service additions have changed the capacity from 96 to 90 rooms.

“We’re offering the Holiday Inn brand standards,” Cook said. “Brand new furnishings, Keurigs and more.”
