HOLDEN BEACH — When Christy Ollis and Derek Gibson went out on Holden Beach Saturday, they planned to relax and enjoy some of the last hours of their vacation.

But when 12-year-old Levi Floyd nearly drowned in the surf, neither hesitated to jump into action. Both trained nurses, they immediately went to work.

Their quick response is credited with saving Levi’s life.
