Tracy K. Smith

Princeton University professor Tracy K. Smith is the 52nd poet laureate of the United States.

WEST JEFFERSON — The visit to Ashe County by United States Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith has been rescheduled for April 1, according to the Ashe County Arts Council.

Smith was originally scheduled to to give a keynote address Sept. 13 as part of the On the Same Page Literary Festival, a weeklong collaboration between the Ashe County Arts Council and the Ashe County Public Library. The address was forced to be rescheduled due to Hurricane Florence.

The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. April 1 at the Ashe County Civic Center, 962 Mt. Jefferson Road, West Jefferson, admission will be free.

The evening will include storytelling, readings and conversation, Smith will also be available to sign books and meet with the public after.
