Holy Communion Lutheran Church hosting annual Bible School
FOSCOE — The Holy Communion Lutheran Church is hosting its annual Bible School July 25-28 with an agricultural theme called “Yee Haw: Celebrating God‘s Greatest Gift.”
The church — located at 1525 Clarks Creek Road in Foscoe — will serve a light meal on Thursday and Friday at 5 p.m. followed by Bible adventures, games, music and “projects with a purpose” at 6 p.m. The events will adjourn at 9 p.m. On Saturday there will be a “corral” theme to the event.
There will be a Bible study taught by Pastor David Mielke for older youth and adults on Thursday and Friday following supper. On Thursday the study will be “The Biblical Roots of the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds.” On Friday the study will be “Christmas in July – What the Bible tells us about Christmas.”
To reach the church coming from Boone, Pastor David Mielke advises that drivers turn right on Clark’s Creek Road in Foscoe (between Better Days and Nights Counseling and Mountain Dog) and travel 1.6 miles. The church is located on the left. For more information, contact Mielke at (336) 264-4069.
Local churches to host Bible Adventure Week
BOONE — Local churches are partnering with the Three Forks Baptist Association to host a Bible Adventure Week from 5 to 8 p.m. from July 22-26 in the Parkway School gymnasium.
The week is offered by a group of churches in the High Country to pre-Kindergarten through eighth grades with adult and Spanish classes as well. Attendees of Bible Adventure Week can expect Bible study, music, games and food.
People can get involved with adventure week by partnering or providing volunteers, giving financial support or committing to planning, preparing and serving a meal to the children on each night of adventure week. To get involved, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (828) 264-5319.

Three Forks Baptist Association to offer 15-week course
BOONE — The Three Forks Baptist Association is offering a 15-week course to “discover God’s heart and purpose,” the organization stated.
The course is titled “Perspectives” and is a designed around four vantage points or perspectives — Biblical, historical, cultural and strategic. The course will talk about a person’s purpose, which may be to send, welcome, pray, support or go when called to do so, according to the nonprofit group called Perspectives that teaches the course.
“Discovering this purpose is valuable, and perhaps crucial, for any Christian,” Perspectives stated.
Perspectives in Boone starts Aug. 4 and will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. each Sunday at the Three Forks Baptist Association. For more information, visit www.perspectives.org/BooneNC.
Blessing box installed at Three Forks Baptist Association
BOONE — A Blessing Box offering food to those in need is now located at the Three Forks Baptist Association Office at 513 Jefferson Road.
“If you are in need of food, please come by and take some,” the association stated. “If you are able to donate, please come by and leave some.”
