Town of Boone Meeting Notice The Boone Planning Commission will hold its regular meeting on Monday, September 28, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. via WebEx. Watch the Meeting: Anyone can view the meeting live at: Participate in Meeting: Individuals who wish to speak during public comment can do so through WebEx either online or by phone. To do so, email Jane Shook, Director of Planning & Inspections at or call 828-268-6960 and you will be provided with an invite to the meeting. All registrations must be completed by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Participants should complete the registration form provided in the meeting invite to be included in public participation and view further instructions. Individuals who require user assistance registering or joining the WebEx event on the night of the meeting can call 828-386-7025 for support. Written comments will be accepted until 24 hours after the hearing and may be emailed to or delivered to the secure drop-off box located to the side of Boone Town Hall at 567 W. King Street. At the beginning of the meeting Planning Commission will hold a joint public hearing with Town Council on the following cases: 1.PL03547-020420: WF&G Development, LLC has submitted a Conditional District Zoning Map Amendment for Kensington Gate at 140, 155, 180 & 189 Gateway Drive to be rezoned from O/I Office Institutional to Conditional District R5 55+ Housing Residential District with a site specific development plan for Use 1.17 Adult Living Community which would allow the construction of a third residential building within the development. 2.PL04195-090820: The Town of Boone has initiated a UDO Text Amendment to modify UDO Article 2 Administrative Mechanisms to reorganize, align text with NC General Statutes, modify certain board requirements and procedures, and clean up language regarding the various boards that operate under the UDO. 3.PL04196-090820: The Town of Boone has initiated a UDO Text Amendment to bring the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) into compliance with Session Law 2019-111, which involves changes to Articles 4, 9, 12, and 34 including but not limited to changes related to permits and permit applications, special use permit and subdivision approvals, appeals of enforcement actions, civil penalties, UDO amendment processes, and conditional district conditions. Full text of the proposed amendments may be obtained from the Town Clerk. Amendments may also be made to other Articles to conform them to changes made in the text amendment cases. Substantial and insubstantial changes in the amendments may be made following the public hearing. Following the public hearing, the Planning Commission will consider the cases above.
