ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS Town of Independence 317 E. Main Street Independence, VA 24348 Sealed Bids for the construction of the Town of Independence Farmer’s Market Project will be received at the Town Hall, 317 E Main Street, Independence, Virginia until 2:00 PM local time on July 29, 2021, at which time the Bids received will be publicly opened and read. The project is generally described as the site preparation work related to the future construction of an open air market structure & stage. Included in the work is site grading, storm drainage, utility installations, paving, concrete work, and erosion and sediment control measures. Contract is to be awarded on a lump sum basis. Prospective Bidders may examine the Bidding Documents at the Issuing Office on Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, and may obtain copies of the Bidding Documents from the Issuing Office upon nonrefundable payment of $200 for each 22 x 34 set, $100 for each 11 x 17 set, or downloaded free of charge at http://www.handp.com/contact/bids/. Attendance at the pre-bid conference shall be non-mandatory, but is strongly recommended. Bid security shall be furnished in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Bidders shall submit proof of qualifications to perform the Work as described in the Instructions to Bidders. The procedure for withdrawal of bid shall be according to provision “(i)” contained in 11-54, Code of Virginia (1950) as amended. If a contract is for seventy thousand dollars ($70,000) or more, or if the total value of all construction, removal, repair, or improvements undertaken by the bidder within any twelve­ month period is five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) or more, the bidder is required under Title 54, Chapter 11, Code of Virginia (1950) as amended, to show evidence of being licensed as a “Class A Contractor.” If a contract is fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500) or more but less than seventy thousand dollars ($70,000), the bidder is required to show evidence of being licensed as a “Class B Contractor.” The bidder shall place on the outside of the envelope containing the bid and shall place in the bid over his signature whichever of the following notations is appropriate: “Licensed Class A Virginia Contractor No.______” “Licensed Class B Virginia Contractor No._______” Date: June 11, 2021 Reid Walters, Town Manager
