“And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” John 14: 13-14
It seems that everywhere I went this week someone would mention that they were so happy to see that I was on the mend and that they had been praying for me.
I am so humbled and so very thankful that so many prayers were said for me. A friend even made the comment that God surely healed me because He heard my name spoken so much. That touched my heart so that with each prayer I have prayed since, I have tried to speak each name on my prayer list out loud. It takes much time but I want God to hear my prayers for individuals by name. God already knows who they are but like a loving Father I am sure that He loves to hear His children’s names and that they are depending on Him.
Our obedience to fervent prayer is rewarded by the Heavenly Father when we take Him at his Word. Our scripture passage today is so powerful! Jesus spoke these words to His disciples and we, as His disciples are given the same privilege. We must pray believing that our prayers will be heard and God will answer in His time.
I was so blessed to have the dear mother of a co-worker come for a visit this week. Her mother has been on our prayer list for quite some time. It was such a blessing because just last fall we felt that God was going to call her to Heaven. We prayed if it was God’s will that He would touch her with comfort and healing. There were times when she was on life support that our hearts were so heavy we didn’t think she would make it. But we kept calling her name out to the Lord and laying her burdens at the foot of the Cross.
We prayed in Jesus’ name that she would be healed. In His name; isn’t that how our scripture tells us to pray? Jesus said if we would glorify Him, He would hear our prayers! So, to God be the glory! This precious soul is well enough to come by our office and thank us for our prayers! She is still with us! Through her healing we got our “faith lifted.” What an awesome God we serve. We just need to serve and trust Him.
As you go through this week take time to call out to our Heavenly Father the names that are on your heart. He knows each and every one of them and what they need. Set our scripture today in your heart and mind. Call out your own name and ask for His will to be done in your life. All we have to do is ask. Think about it.
