Clarence David Greene, Jr., 59, of Oxford, N.C., former resident of Raleigh, N.C.,succumbed to cancer January 26, 2019.
He was born July 18, 1959, to Clarence David and Rachel Hedrick Greene in Lenoir, N.C., and grew up in Blowing Rock and Graham, N.C.
He was a graduate of N.C. State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was retired from NCDOT in the Materials and Tests Division specializing in bridges.
He was an avid model train collector and loved cheering on NCSU teams and the Carolina Panthers.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sarah T. and Clarence Hedrick of Lenoir, N.C., and Opal and Clarence Greene of Blowing Rock, N.C.; maternal aunt and uncle, Marilyn H. and Alvin G. Pettit, Jr of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and cousin, Dr. Gil Pettit, III of Wilmington, N.C.
He is survived by his beloved and devoted partner, Lisa Adcock Mize of Oxford, N.C.; his parents of Blowing Rock, N.C.; his daughters, Sarah Beth Thompson (Clay) of Raleigh, N.C., and Anna Dawson (Jeremy) of Colerain, N.C.; granddaughter Sarah Charlotte Thompson; sisters, Sarah Hedrick Greene (Carol Doyle) of Denver, N.C., and Gennie Greene Saffer (C.G.) and nephew, Patrick Saffer and niece, Margaret Saffer all of Charlotte, N.C.; cousins, Anne Brooke Lazorik (Robert) of Denver, N.C., and Frances Earle of Statesville, N.C.; and paternal aunt and uncle, James L. and Naomi Greene of Winston-Salem, N.C.
