Joseph Butler Robinson, Sr. died Christmas morning at the age of 95.

Mr. Robinson was born on September 17, 1909, to the late Dr. W.J. Robinson and wife, Julia Sutherland Robinson in Creston, N.C., where he resided for his entire life until moving to Boone, N.C. two years ago to live with his grandson and family.

Mr. Robinson was a farmer and a very active member of the Republican Party in Ashe County.

He attended Appalachian State University and also taught school in Ashe County for 35 years in the Toliver and Riverview Schools.

Most importantly, however, he will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving Mr. Robinson are: one son, Joseph B. Robinson, Jr. and wife Becky of Boone, N.C.; one grandson, Joseph B. Robinson, III and wife, Renee of Boone, N.C.; two granddaughters, Judy R. Hunter and husband, Tony of Elk Park, N.C. and Lynn R. Ginn and husband, Phil of Boone, N.C.

Mr. Robinson is also survived by six great granddaughters; Ashley, Tracey, Julie and Jodie Ginn and Maddisen and Makenzie Robinson, all of Boone, N.C.

Other family survivors include numerous nieces and nephews and cousins together with three special caregivers, Ellen Roark, Pamela R. Blevins and Christie Roark.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline G. Robinson; a daughter, Rona Alice Robinson; and four sisters, Rena R. Shoun, Margaret Robinson, Ruth R. Neal and Jewel R. Shoaf.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 27, 2004 at 7 p.m. at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel by Phil Ginn. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Robinson Family Cemetery in Creston.

The Robinson family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday evening prior to the funeral service at Boone Family Funeral Home.
