Mrs. Elaine Clawson Hodges, age 56, of 225 Shady Lane, Blowing Rock, died Sunday morning, December 26, 2004, at Watauga Medical Center.
She was born October 2, 1948, in Boone, Watauga County, to Opal Byers Clawson (Banner) and the late John David Clawson.
Mrs. Hodges is a graduate of Watauga High School and received a Master’s degree in Childhood Education from Appalachian State University.
She was a former teacher at Mabel and Green Valley Elementary schools and a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, R.D. Hodges; one son, Tanner Hodges; and twin daughters, Kathryn and Elizabeth Hodges, all of the home; her mother, Mrs. Opal Clawson Banner; and one sister, Ms. Libby Clawson, both of Boone.
She was preceded in death by her father, John D. Clawson.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. The body will lie in state at the church from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Bud Russell. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon in the Mount Vernon Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at the church, prior to the service. At other times, friends may call at the Hodges residence in Blowing Rock.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Vernon Baptist Church Building Fund, 3505 Bamboo Road, Boone NC 28607.
