Mr. William Clay “Bill” Beach, 66, of Wilkesboro, and a native and former resident of Watauga County, died Sunday afternoon, Dec. 19, 2004, at Britthaven Health Care of Wilkesboro.
He was born Dec. 19, 1938 in Watauga County, a son of Mrs. Hazel Hardy Beach and the late Everett Clay Beach.
Mr. Beach served more than 16 years in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam Era. He was a long distance trucker.
Survivors include one daughter, Janie Phillips and husband, Eric, of Hickory; his mother, Hazel Hardy Beach of Warrensville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Faye Miller and husband, Tom, of North Wilkesboro and Linda Tucker and husband, Phil, of Warrensville; and one brother, L.E. Beach and wife, Renee, of Vilas. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Johnny Wilson Beach.
Services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Pastor Michael Greene. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1-2:30 p.m., prior to the services, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
