Mrs. June Younce Oliver, 86, of 164 Long Street, Boone, wife of the late Rev. Barney Lee Oliver, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 15, 2004, at home.
She was born Nov. 26, 1918, in the Mabel community of Watauga County, to the late Charles and Pearl Burkett Younce.
Mrs. Oliver was a homemaker and a member of Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Libby Warren and husband, Rev. Bill Warren, Lois Thomas and husband, Lawrence, and Connie Shore and husband, Alton, all of Boone; one son, Bud Oliver and wife, Faye, of Vilas; one brother, Burkett Younce and wife, Kay, of Monetta, S.C.; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Lena Eggers and Mrs. Betty Younce, both of Zionville, and Mrs. Ruby Oliver of Boone.
She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Earlene Robinson; and four brothers, Howard Younce, Ivan Younce, Clyde Younce and Bob Younce.
Services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, at 2 o’clock at Union Baptist Church. The body will lie in state at the church from 1-2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Charles L. “Chuck” Morefield, the Rev. Ray Greene, the Rev. Bill Warren and the Rev. Edd Warren. Burial will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening (Friday) from 6-9 p.m. at Union Baptist Church. At other times, friends may call at the home of Lois and Lawrence Thomas, 164 Long Street, Boone.
