Farmers' market offering

This Saturday at the Watauga County Farmers' Market, Matt Cooper of Lively Up Farm will have tomatillos, four kinds of potatoes, and fresh basil.
Zydeco Moon Organic Farm will have plenty of heirloom tomatoes, fingerling potatoes, squash, lettuce and onions. There will also be garlic braids from Susan Wright of Shady Grove Gardens and Nursery.
Joan Knox of Joan's Sourdough Bread is introducing Pa's Pimento Cheese made from a family recipe, assorted pound and layer cakes, earthquake fudge pies, lemon chess pies and her garden herb bread, which she says is absolutely delicious.
Knox's breads and goodies can now also be found at the Wednesday afternoon market.
Rebecca at Back Yard Bakery thanks has fruit pies made from local produce and as always, welcomes orders at 828-264-1440.
Harmony Acres Soap Company will have natural handmade lemongrass and lavender lotions, lip balms, natural deodorant and natural tooth soap.
In addition, Wednesday afternoon markets are a great option for those who can not come out on Saturdays.
The Wednesday market been averaging more than 20 vendors with a good selection of produce, garden plants, foods and great hand-crafts. There will be no sales allowed before 4 p.m. on Wednesdays to give vendors time to set up properly.
The market is open Saturday mornings, and on Wednesday afternoons from 4 to 7 at the Horn in the West in Boone. Turn next to First Citizens Bank on the N.C. 105 Extension and go to the top of the hill. Call market manager Karen Bauman at 1-828-355-4918 for more information.
