Six people were injured Friday in a head-on collision just south of Boone on U.S. 321.
A Honda CR-V crossed the centerline of U.S. 321 near the Country Market at approximately 5 p.m. Friday evening. The Honda swerved to avoid a rear-end collision and struck an oncoming Nissan van.
The driver and two passengers, all of the High Country, of the CR-V were transported to Watauga Medical Center.
Three out of four passengers in the van were transported to WMC. Those in the van were reported to be Florida residents.
The identities of those involved had not been released as of press time.
Investigating officer trooper David Hollars of the N.C. Highway Patrol cited the driver of the CR-V for driving left of the centerline.
Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, Watauga Medics and Boone Fire Department also responded to the scene.
