Four charged in

child abuse case

Four people were arrested after an incident Sunday evening involving assault on a child.

A concerned adult contacted police after noticing bruises on a minor. Following an investigation, warrants were issued for four adults. The child was in their care from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday and police suspect that is when the abuse occurred. One of the adults is a relative of the victim.

The child is an 11-year-old male; however, few details are being released due to the nature of the incident.
Capt. Jim Wilson of the Boone Police Department said, “This type of the behavior will not be tolerated.”

Gene Ray, 57, of 118 Tremont Drive, Boone; Andrea Goins, 61, of 150 Church St., Boone; Charles Wilson, 61, of Doctor Mary McCloud Beth Blvd., Daytona Beach, Fla.; and Anthony Hagler, 56, of 118 Tremont Drive, Boone have been charged with assault on a child under the age of 12.

All are scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 28. All have unsecured bonds, except Wilson, who was assigned a $500 secured bond.
