Tennessee woman
charged with embezzlement
A month-long investigation by the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office has ended in the arrest of a Tennessee resident.

On June 8, WSCO received a report from the Yonahlossee Racquet Club alleging that an employee had embezzled in excess of $20,000 from the business.
The investigation lead to an arrest warrant for employee April Dawn Schmees Welsh, 39, of 1458 Dry Hill Road, Butler, Tenn. Welsh was apprehended at her home on July 3 by Johnson County (Tenn.) Sheriff’s Office and transported to Watauga County.
She is scheduled to appear in district court on a felony embezzlement charge of Sept. 15 in lieu of a secured $5,000 bond.
