arrested on drug charges

An employee of Deerfield Ridge Assisted Living on Bamboo Road in Boone has been arrested on charges related to the theft of medications.

Kerry Norris Loyd, 43, has been charged by Boone Police Department with two counts of larceny by an employee and two counts of misdemeanor possession of a schedule II controlled substance. The charges stem from a follow-up investigation on allegations of theft of prescriptions at the facility.

Loyd is scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 14 in lieu of a secured $5,000 bond.
