Watauga sheriff’s reports
June 8
An assault with a deadly weapon was reported at a residence on the 100 block of Hensel Lane in Boone. A person reported another had attempted to hit a child with a vehicle. A Spiderman bicycle was reported damaged in the incident.
Fraud was reported by a resident of the 5400 block of Bamboo Road in Boone. The victim reported a person making unauthorized charges on a credit card.
June 9
Assault on a child under the age of 12 was reported at a residence on the 2100 block of Winklers Creek Road in Boone. The victim reported a person throwing a rock at a juvenile.
Breaking and entering and injury to real property were reported at a residence on the 100 block of Skyler Lane in Boone. The victim reported a person broke the glass of the front door of the home in order to gain entry.
Assault with a deadly weapon was reported at a residence on the 2100 block of Longhope Road in Todd. The victim reported a person shot at them with a .357 handgun.
Simple physical assault, communicating threats and damage to property were reported at a residence on the 2000 block of Bairds Creek Road in Vilas. The victim reported a person grabbing him/her by the throat and hair.
A simple physical assault and theft of a motor vehicle were reported at a residence on the 200 block of Smith Street in Vilas. The victim reported a person took a 2000 silver Chevrolet Tracker without permission.
Larceny of firearms and larceny were reported at a residence on the 100 block of Teaberry Path in Blowing Rock. The victim reported a Colt .22 and two .38 firearms were stolen. A wallet was also reported stolen.
Gene Neal Mann, 50, of 1389 Park Vista Road, West Jefferson, was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of breaking and entering and injury to real property. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 14 in lieu of a secured $750 bond.
Steven Eric Godfrey, 32, of 291 Indian Lake Drive, West Jefferson, was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats. He is scheduled to appear in district court on June 12 in lieu of an unsecured $1,000 bond.
Edward Charles Lucas, 43, of 189 White Oak Trail, Valle Crucis, was served with an order for arrest for failure to appear at a scheduled court date. He is scheduled to appear in district court on June 19 in lieu of a secure $6,000 bond.
Dereck Ray Burkett, 21, of 143 Reas St., Boone, was served with an order for arrest on a charge of trespassing. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on July 10 in lieu of an unsecured $300 bond.
June 10
Brittany Sabrina Caudill, 21, of 1145 South Goforth Road, Ferguson, was served with an order for arrest for failure to appear in district court on a charge of attempt to obtain a controlled substance by means of fraud and/or forgery. She was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on June 19 in lieu of a secured $5,000 bond.
Matthew Deavon Norris, 25, of 3170 Laurel Creek Road, Banner Elk, was served with an order for arrest on a court violation. He is scheduled to appear is district court on July 31 in lieu of a $500 bond.
Jeffrey Stuart Cashwell, 37, of 2596 Deep RiverRoad, Sanford, was served with a warrant on charges of breaking and entering, assault on a female, and communicating threats. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on July 10 in lieu of a secure $1,000 bond.
Todd Anthony Baker, 45, of 5617 37th St. NE, Hickory, was served with a criminal summons on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in district court on July 10.
A simple assault was reported at a residence on the 700 block of Dewitt Barnett Road in Banner Elk. Brothers got into a fight.
Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at a residence on the 1700 block of Mabel School Road in Zionville. The victim reported a lock was cut from an outbuilding and two lawn mowers, sheet rock and a screen door were stolen.
June 11
Richy Guy Keller, 46, of 11038 N.C. 105 South, Banner Elk, was served with an order for arrest on a charge of court violations. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on July 1 in lieu of a secure $2,000 bond.
Pansy Whitehead Bryan, 61, of 1869 Ball Branch Road, Boone, was served with a warrant on a charge of simple physical assault. She is scheduled to appear in district court on July 10 in lieu of a written promise bond.
Richard Joseph Hegenbart, 49, of 2198 Winklers Creek Road, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest on a charge of simple physical assault. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 14 in lieu of a secure $1,000 bond.
Officers responded to a report of loitering at Rutherwood Baptist Church on Don Hayes Road in Boone.
Larceny from a mailbox was reported at a residence on the 600 block of Fairview Heights in Boone. A package containing baby shoes was reported stolen.
Criminal damage to property by vandalism was reported at a residence on the 2400 block of Flat Top Road in Blowing Rock. The victim reported a person(s) caused $400 in damage to Hummer H2 by throwing eggs and shooting paintballs at the vehicle.
Breaking and entering of a coin-operated machine and larceny were reported at a commercial building on the 600 block of Roby Greene Road in Boone. A person pried open a drink machine, causing $100 in damage.
June 12
Fraud by obtaining money/property by false pretenses was reported by a resident of the 600 block of N.C. 105 Bypass. The victim reported receiving a worthless check for an unknown reason.
Criminal damage to property was reported at a residence on the 900 block of Tater Hill Road in Zionville. The victim reported a motorist knocked over a mailbox and did not stop.
Larceny was reported at a parking area on the 1300 block of Peoria Road in Sugar Grove. The victim reported a winch, clevis, large fire extinguisher and miscellaneous hand tools were stolen from a tree trimmer.
Breaking and entering and criminal damage to property were reported at a residence on the 1000 block of Charlie Thompson Road in Vilas. The victim reported a person attempted to pick the lock on the front door of the home, damaging the doorknob.
June 13
Thomas Henry Cruikshank, 47, of 465 Highland Ave., Boone, was arrested on view on charges of driving while impaired, driving while license revoked, careless and reckless driving, and resisting a public officer. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 28 in lieu of a secure $1,000 bond.
Jonathan Christopher Dunn, 26, of 567 Main St., Blowing Rock, was arrested on view on a charge of a driving while impaired. He is scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 14.
Thomas Scott Church, 18, of 107 Ford Hollars Road, Vilas, was arrested on view on charges of reckless driving and speeding. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 14 in lieu of a $1,000 secured bond.
Holly Ann Hansbrough, 26, of 275 Red Bank Road, Banner Elk, was served with an order for arrest for failure to appear at a scheduled court date. She was also charged with two misdemeanor drug violations.
Hansbrough was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 14 in lieu of a secure $800 bond.
