Mountaineers hopeful duo reaches finals

GREENSBORO - Two of the nine Appalachian State men's and women's track and field athletes who competed at the NCAA East Regionals Friday and Saturday at Irwin Belk Stadium at North Carolina A&T may qualify for the nationals.

Around the area: Church drives in run in easy win
Former Watauga standout catcher Adam Church drove in two runs and scored another to help Caldwell Legion Post 29 take a 14-0 victory over Henderson in Caldwell's first game of the season Friday.


Watauga goes 3-1 in tourney
When Pete Hardee agreed to host games in the Charlotte Heat Showcase over the weekend, he did it mostly to see what type of team was left him after 12 seniors graduated from the 2009 edition.
