District Court Judge Ted McEntire presiding and Charlene Norris prosecuting on behalf of the state.

Jeffrey L. Chappelear, 55, of 1004 Maplewood Court, Martinsville, Va., pleaded guilty to driving without an operator’s license and an open container of alcohol in the passenger area of the vehicle. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail, suspended, 12 months unsupervised probation and assessed a $50 fine and court costs.


An order for arrest was issued for Shannon Marie Decker, 32, of 302 W. King St., Boone, for failure to appear on charges of harassing phone calls and cyberstalking. A secure $2,000 bond was set.


An order for arrest was issued for Jackie Lee Dillard, 53, of 480 Cummings Highway, Canton, Ga., for failure to appear on a charge of injury to personal property. A secure $1,000 bond was set.


A charge of breaking and entering was dismissed against Theresa Guest, age unspecified, of 229 Honey Bear Campground, Boone, due to successful mediation.

A charge of simple assault was dismissed against Christopher Hibbitts, 31, of 130 Birch St., Apt. 24, Boone.
A charge of misdemeanor larceny was dismissed against Justin H. Hodgson, 28, of 150 Blue Ridge Ave., Boone.


Edmond Ryan Lansche, age unspecified, of 329 East Hall Dorm, Boone, was found not guilty on a charge of simple assault. A motion to dismiss at the close of state’s evidence was granted.

Shelia Larson, 22, of 130 Birch St., Apt. 27, Boone, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while impaired. She was sentenced to 60 days in jail, suspended, 12 months supervised probation, 24 hours of community service to be completed within 30 days and assessed a $100 fine and court costs. A charge of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for purposes related to a controlled substance was dismissed.


A charge of misdemeanor stalking was dismissed against Leonel Licea, age unspecified, of 186 Hampton Trailer Park, Boone, due to successful mediation.


A charge of misdemeanor larceny was dismissed against Allen Loux, 56, of 272 Meadowhill drive, Apt. 71, Boone, due to successful mediation.

A charge of communicating threats was dismissed against Phillip Allen McGee, 35, of 407 Poplar Drive, Beech Mountain.


A charge of communicating threats was dismissed against Christy Jade Pardue, age unspecified, of 717 Blowing Rock Road, Boone.


A charge of assault and battery was dismissed against Joshua Hunter Pegram, 24, of 6702 Polo Farms Drive, Summerfield, S.C.

Charges of felony larceny and injury to personal property were dismissed against David L. Reece Jr., 31, of 255 Nave Hollow Loop, Elizabethton, Tenn.


A charge of attempted breaking and entering was dismissed against Dustin Todd Soileau, 23, of 525 Blowing Rock Road, Apt. 21, Boone, due to successful mediation.


A charge of assault on a child under the age of 12 was dismissed against Timothy Swinney-Taylor, age unspecified, of 302 West King St., Boone.


Charges of injury to personal property and communicating threats were dismissed against Christopher Farrell Ussery, 44, of 206 Kersey Drive, Archdale, due to successful mediation.

Walbert Farmer, 44, of 349 South Flatwoods Road, Creston, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor larceny. He was sentenced to 45 days in jail, suspended, 18 months unsupervised probation and assessed $80 in restitution, a $100 fine and court costs.

Charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana up to one half ounce were dismissed against Katelyn Nicole Bacon, 19, of 575 Queen St., Apt. 7, Boone, due to compliance with conditions previously set by the court.


Charlene Dancy Brown, 38, of 130 Charlie Dancy Road, Zionville, pleaded guilty to allowing an unlicensed person to drive. A prayer for judgment continued was granted and Brown was ordered to pay $150 in court-appointed attorney fees.

David Andrew Cheek, 27, of 133 Boone Dock St., Apt. 2, Boone, pleaded guilty to driving while impaired and driving while license revoked. He was sentenced to a total of two year, sixty days in the custody of the Department of Correction with credit for 170 days served and 18 months supervised probation. Cheek was assessed $75 in court-appointed attorney fees. Charges of misdemeanor breaking and entering and misdemeanor larceny were dismissed.


Jonathan Cornatzer,19, of 320 Potts Road, Advance, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana up to one half ounce. He was sentenced to 12 months unsupervised probation and assessed court costs and a $100 fine.


Matthew James Hawley, 24, of 181 Mallard Lane, Boone, pleaded guilty to driving while license revoked. A prayer for judgment continued was granted. A second charge of driving while license revoked was dismissed.

A charge of driving while license revoked was dismissed against Daniel Alan Hayes, 19, of Rabbit Ridge Run, Vilas.


A charge of misdemeanor larceny was dismissed against Daniel Everett Margolis, 17, of 694 Mabel School Road, Zionville.

A charge of misdemeanor larceny was dismissed against James Daniel Overcash, 23, of 2736 Maiden Lane SW, Supply.


A charge of defrauding an innkeeper was dismissed against Christopher J. Poarch, 23, of 8463 U.S. 221 South, Blowing Rock.

Travis Lee Presnell, 28, of 300 Wiley Harmon Road, Banner Elk, pleaded guilty to driving while license revoked. A prayer for judgment continued was granted.

Nathan Scott Randall, 57, of 160 Robin Lane, Boone, pleaded guilty to failure to comply with license restrictions. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail, suspended, 12 months unsupervised probation and assessed a $100 fine and court costs. A charge of unsafe movements was dismissed.

A charge of breaking and entering was dismissed against Santos Nava Roa, 38, of 120 Winter Drive, Boone.

A charge of misdemeanor larceny was dismissed against Michael E. Sabetti, 22, of 804 Hillside Drive, Kings Mountain, due to compliance with conditions previously set by the court.


Frank Daniel Schoch, 40, of 159 Frog Hollow Road, Deep Gap, was found guilty of resisting a public officer and to give/lend/borrow a license plate. He was sentenced to 45 days in jail, suspended, 12 months unsupervised probation and assessed a $200 fine and court costs.

Derrick Lamont Scott, 34, of 602 9th Ave. SE, Hickory, pleaded guilty to driving while license revoked. He was sentenced to 45 days in jail, suspended, 12 months unsupervised probation and assessed a $200 fine and court costs. Charges of expired registration, expired inspection sticker and a second registration violation were dismissed.

A charge of failure to stop for a stopped school bus was dismissed against Michael Morse Simione, 39, of 191 Wildcat Road, Deep Gap. He pleaded guilty to a charge of unsafe movement and was assessed a $25 fine and court costs.


May 21
Gary Huie Templeton, 52, of 1785 N.C. 105, Apt. 406, Boone, pleaded guilty to driving while license revoked. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail, suspended, 12 months unsupervised probation and assessed a $100 fine and court costs. A second charge of driving while license revoked was dismissed.

Shanna Faye Thomas, 30, of 735 South Church St., Forest City, pleaded guilty to failure to wear seat belt and driving while license revoked. A prayer for judgment continued was granted and Thomas was assessed a $25 fine. A charge of possession of a suspended license was dismissed.


Charges of going armed to the terror of people and communicating threats were dismissed against Samatha Watson, 35, of 101 Tom Jackson Road, Boone.


Charges of unsafe movement and hit and run, failure to stop with property damage were dismissed against Lamon Lydell Whiddon, 85, of 712 Blairmont Drive, Boone.


A charge of second degree trespass was dismissed against Steven Patrick White, 38, of 515 Junaluska Road, Boone.

Joseph Calvin Wilson, 65, of 9031 J.M. Keynes Drive, Charlotte, pleaded guilty to driving while impaired. He was sentenced to one year in jail, suspended, with 7 days active, 12 months supervised probation and assessed a $500 fine and court costs.

Conley Elwood Yates, 35, of 196 Vanderpool Road, Vilas, was found guilty of second degree trespass. Yates was sentenced to 20 days in jail, suspended, 18 months unsupervised probation and assessed court costs.

Steven Patrick White, 38, of 302 W. King St., Boone, pleaded guilty to two counts of felony possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine. He was sentenced to 10-12 months in the custody of the Department of Corrections with credit for 84 days served and assessed $675 in court-appointed attorney fees. Charges of two counts of felony conspiracy to sell/deliver a schedule II controlled substance and two counts of felony selling of cocaine.

May 21

A charge of possession of marijuana up to one half ounce was dismissed against John Edmun Butler, 55, of 170 Michael Lane, Banner Elk. A motion to suppress evidence was allowed.

Ian Richard Hiatt, 21, of 4027 Upper Lake Road, Thomasville, was found guilty of resisting a pubic officer and expired operator’s license. He was sentenced to consecutive terms of 30 days each in jail, both suspended, and a total of 24 months supervised probation, 36 hours of community service to be completed within 60 days, and assessed a $200 fine and court costs. Motions to dismiss at the close of state’s evidence were allowed on charges of reckless driving to endanger and expired registration card/tag.


Charles Lee Hicks, 57, of 442 Ralph Wilson Road, Vilas, pleaded guilty to driving while license revoked. He was sentenced to 45 days in jail, suspended, 12 months unsupervised probation, and assessed a $100 fine, court costs and $225 in court-appointed attorney fees. A charge of possession and/or display of an altered/fictitious/revoked driving license was dismissed.


Gregory Paters, 42, of 3848 Velp Ave., Green Bay, Wis., pleaded guilty to failure to report an accident. A prayer for judgment continued was granted. A charge of a passenger fleeing the scene of an accident with property damage was dismissed.

A charge of defrauding an innkeeper was dismissed against Mark Anthony Smith, 56, of 599 W. King St., Apt. 4, Boone. A motion to dismiss at the close of state’s evidence was allowed.

An order for arrest was issued for Randy Aaron Smith, 20, of 826 Lawrence Green Road, Deep Gap, for failure to appear on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon. A secure $1,000 bond was set.

May 22

Kelley Marie Cooke, 18, of 2743 Toney Road, Lawndale, was found guilty of possession of marijuana up to one half ounce. She was sentenced to 10 days in jail, suspended, 18 months unsupervised probation and assessed a $200 fine.

Candace Tiffany Corbin, 19, of 529 George Triplett Road, Blowing Rock, was found guilty of misdemeanor larceny. She was sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended, 18 months unsupervised probation and assessed a $200 fine.

Charges of injury to personal property, attempted breaking and entering and communicating threats were dismissed against Michael Eugene Currie, 30, of 529 George Triplett Road, Blowing Rock.

Jason Aaron Davis, 27, of 732 Rainbow Road, Mountain City, Tenn., was found guilty of shoplifting with concealment of goods. He was sentenced to 15 days in jail, suspended, with 48 hours active, 12 months unsupervised probation, and assessed a $100 fine and court costs.

A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed against Jill Marie Dellich, 25, of 416 Brookshire Road, Boone.


Kimberly Ann Durkee, 32, of 285 Wood Circle, Boone, was found guilty on a misdemeanor probation violation. Probation was revoked and she was sentenced to 45 days in jail.


Charges of breaking and entering and injury to real property were dismissed against Cody B. Edwards, 23, of 2153 White Pine Drive, Granite Falls.


A charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor was dismissed against Colin Stephen Ellis, 49, of 308 Navejo Trail, Boone.

A charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor was dismissed against Ian Edward Ellis, 24, of 308 Navejo Trail, Boone.


A charge of obtaining property by false pretenses was dismissed against William Matthew Ford, 34, of 1436 Friendship Church Road, Boone.

John Wesley Fox, 29, of 334 Jenwill Drive, Deep Gap, pleaded guilty to driving while license revoked. A prayer for judgment continued was granted.

A charge of assault on a female was dismissed against Allan Walton Gilmour, 56, of 212 Wildwood Drive, Salisbury.

A charge of assault and battery was dismissed against Cathryne Joy Gilmour, 51, of 212 Wildwood Drive, Salisbury.

Matthew Robert Lee, 21, of 575 Nikanor Road, West Jefferson, pleaded guilty to driving while license revoked. A prayer for judgment continued was granted.

Edwin March, 51, of 201 Fair Oaks Court, Boone, admitted a probation violation. Probation was revoked and he was ordered to serve 120 days in the custody of the Department of Corrections with credit for 31 days served.
A charge of possession of marijuana up to one half ounce was dismissed against Mathew Thomas Maretich, 19, of 411 Crestview Place, Pfafftown.

Charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana up to one half ounce were dismissed against Danny Len Marlowe, 38, of 500 Frank Hollow Road, Warrensville.


A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed against Kaitlin Mary McCoy, 24, of 416 Brookshire Road, Boone.

Amber Nicole Valdez Nelson, 19, of 167 Zeb St., Boone, was found guilty of a probation violation. Probation was revoked and she was ordered to serve 45 days in jail.

Charges of possession of an alcoholic beverage by an underage person, two counts of breaking and entering, and second degree trespassing were dismissed against Henry Joshua Owen, 20, of 269 Ambling Way, Apt. 623, Boone.

Amish Patel, 20, of 91 Mountain Drive, Candler, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor larceny, two counts of possession of an alcoholic beverage by an underage person and an unsealed wine/liquor container in the passenger area of a vehicle. Patel was sentenced to 45 days in jail, suspended, one year supervised probation and assessed a $100 fine and court costs.
