Kids triathlon to be held this Saturday

The third annual High Country Kids Triathlon will be held at the Watauga County Parks and Recreation Department Saturday.
The triathlon includes swimming in the pool, a bike ride and a run on the Green Way Trail. There are three different age groups and distances.
The first is for youths aged 8-under. The swim is 100-meters, the bike ride is one mile and the run is a half-mil. For the age group 9-12, the swim is 200 meters, the bike ride is three miles and the run is a mile.
In the 13-18 age group, the swim is 300 meters, the bike ride is four miles and the run is 1.5 miles.
Prizes and refreshments follow the race. All proceeds from the race benefit Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child-Kids Helping Kids. Entry forms are available at the pool or the Parks and Recreation Department. Call Paula Domermuth at 828-262-3788 for more information or to volunteer.
