‘Pack rolls by ASU

RALEIGH — Lindsay Campana allowed just five Appalachian State hits to lead N.C. State to a 6-1 win over the Mountaineers Sunday afternoon.
The Mountaineers closed out the regular-season with a 25-27 record and is the third seed in the Southern Conference Tournament.
N.C. State (23-24) grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third inning when Alyssa Ishibashi hit a two-run homer down the left field line. The score remained 2-0 until the Wolfpack tacked on four runs in the sixth inning. All four runs came with two outs, the big blow being a two-run double by Allison Presnell.
Appalachian got on the board in the seventh when Morgan Price drove in Katie Boyd with a single to center field. That would be the only run the Mountaineers would score.
Kayla Richardson took the loss, allowing nine hits while striking out four. The four strikeouts ties the single-season school record for strikeouts in a season with 143.
ASU will play UNC Greensboro in the first round of the Southern Conference tournament Wednesday in Chattanooga, Tenn. The game time will be announced as soon as possible.
