Watauga’s varsity softball team lost twice in the last two days, falling to powerful Alexander Central 12-0 Tuesday and 5-4 to Wilkes Central in five innings before rain washed the rest of the game out.

Soccer
Watauga’s girls’ soccer team beat Alexander Central 6-0 Tuesday night at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
The Pioneers (5-8-3, 5-3-1) got two goals from Ashlyn Clark, two more from Austin Williamson and one goal each from Kendall Connor and Sydney Atkinson. Austin Mauney, Skylar Hicks and Molly Wells each contributed assists.
Watauga, after falling 4-1 to A.C. Reynolds, has outscored its last two opponents 11-0. The Pioneers also beat East Burke 5-0.
The Pioneers play at Avery Friday, but have three home games next week. They’ll host South Caldwell next Tuesday, McDowell on Wednesday and close out their regular season against Freedom.
Watauga’s jayvee team beat Alexander Central 3-0, also on Tuesday.

Watauga got a double from Josh Roberts in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Alexander Central 1-0 tuesday night at Watauga’s field.
Roberts finished the game going 2-for-4 from the plate. Max Linnville went 3-for-4, while Baker Stanley was 2-for-3.
Dylan Norris scattered five hits and pitched seven innings for the Pioneers. He struck out two and walked two.
