acquires Boone Toyota dealership
The Modern Automotive Network recently acquired its second Toyota franchise, located at 665 East King St. in Boone.

The dealership, formerly Toyota of Boone, has been renamed Modern Toyota of Boone.
Modern acquired its first Toyota dealership in Winston-Salem in 1990 with the purchase of Bill Jackson Toyota (renamed Modern Toyota).
Modern Toyota relocated to a new facility in 1998 and has quadrupled business in both sales and service since that time.
Modern Toyota has also received the prestigious Toyota President’s Award for customer satisfaction for eight years.
Modern’s decision to add another Toyota dealership was made based on the success of the existing Modern Toyota location, as well as Toyota’s national track record.
According to Rob Fowler, president of Modern Automotive, “Boone is a thriving area and Toyota is a great franchise. We believe this is the perfect opportunity for Modern to expand its operations, and for the people of the Boone area to benefit from the advantages the Modern organization brings.”
West Fowler, general manager of Modern Toyota of Boone, adds, “I went to school at ASU and I am happy to be back in Boone. Norman Cheek has paved the way by building a great reputation for the Toyota dealership here.”
Modern Toyota of Boone will stock approximately 200 new and preowned vehicles, and the service facility has 11 service bays.
The dealership will employ approximately 30 staff members in new and preowned sales, service, parts, administrative, and reconditioning.
Modern Automotive is a family-owned business founded in 1933.
Current owners Fred and Rob Fowler have been joined by their sons, representing the fourth generation of the Fowler family in the business.
Modern Automotive sells more than 10,000 vehicles per year and has approximately 500 employees.
With the addition of the Boone location, Modern Automotive will consist of nine dealerships, including Modern Chevrolet, Modern Nissan, Modern Toyota and Modern Infiniti in Winston-Salem, Modern Infiniti in Greensboro, Modern Nissan of Concord, Modern Nissan of Lake Norman, and Modern Hyundai of Concord.
