team earns honor

NEW ORLEANS, La. — Appalachian State’s women’s cross country has been named one of the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2008 All-Academic Teams.

In order to be eligible for the award, the team must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet and must also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative grade point average.

The Mountaineers boast an impressive 3.423 team gpa.

A record total of 162 Division I women’s programs received the USTFCCCA’s All-Academic Team honors this year, including fellow Southern Conference schools College of Charleston, Davidson, Furman, Samford, Chattanooga and Western Carolina.
