Glenn Hodges to retire
as clerk of court
Watauga County clerk of court Glenn Hodges to retire, effective at the end of this month.
Hodges has been in the position of clerk of court since the 1992 election, and has run unopposed since 1994.
In a statement, Hodges said, “During my last election I made it clear I intended to serve the entire four-year term, but personal circumstances have altered that goal. Therefore, I am leaving the clerk's office early.
“I leave to the people of Watauga County a well-trained and experienced staff. The kindness and compliments directed to me and this office over the years is a direct reflection on on the effort and attitude of my assistance and deputy clerks.”
His successor has not yet been named for the position. Senior resident Superior Court Judge James L. Baker is responsible for the appointment of a person to serve the remainder of Hodges term. The position will be up for re-election in November of 2010.
