March 3
An incident involving intimidating a witness, habitual misdemeanor assault and carrying a concealed weapon were reported at a home on Rhymer Branch Road in Deep Gap. The victim reported being held at gunpoint against his/her will.


A burglary with forced entry, larceny and criminal damage to property were reported at a residence on the 300 block of Julia Pearson Lane in Banner Elk. The victim reported a person entered the home through the bathroom window, damaging it, and stole two pair of boots and two jackets.


Financial transaction card theft was reported on the 300 block of Slabtown Road in Zionville. The victim reported a person used a credit card without permission.


Daniel Patrick Triplett, 36, of 722 Rhymer Branch Road, Deep Gap, was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, felony habitual assault, possession of a concealed weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, felony first degree kidnapping and felony intimidating a witness. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on March 27 in lieu of a secured $250,000 bond.

Michael James McNamara, 36, of 163 Possum Hollow Terrace, Blowing Rock, was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of manufacturing marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for purposes related to a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on March 27 in lieu of a secured $10,000 bond.

March 4
Motor vehicle theft was reported at a residence on the 400 block of U.S. 321 in Vilas. A white 1998 Volkswagen Jetta was reported stolen.

Larceny from a motor vehicle was reported in a parking lot on the 100 block of Hodges Gap Road in Boone. The victim reported prescription medication stolen from the vehicle.

Garrett Brooks McGuire, 22, of 263 Charlie Hollar Road, Boone, was served with an order for arrest for failure to appear on charges of resisting a public officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled to appear in district court on April 20 in lieu of a written promise.

Leonel Licea Arias, 27, of 186 Hampton Trailer Court, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest on a charge of threatening phone calls. He is scheduled to appear in district court on March 5 in lieu of an unsecured $500 bond.

March 5
Breaking and entering was reported on the 400 block of Presnell Road in Banner Elk. The victim reported a person entered the home with force and stole jewelry, a fire safe box and cash.


Criminal damage to property was reported at a residence on the 2200 block of Silverstone Road in Zionville.

The victim reported an unknown vehicle damaged a culvert.

Breaking and entering and criminal damage to property were reported at a residence on the 800 block of Brown Trout Road in Banner Elk. The victim reported a person broke a window to gain access to the home.

Forgery was reported at a residence on the 200 block of Fox Hill Road in Vilas. The victim reported a person forged a $6,500 check.

Assault with a deadly weapon was reported at the intersection of N.C. 194 and Meat Camp Road in Boone.

The victim reported a person attempting to shoot at the victim.


Phillip Allen McGee, 35, of 100 Welsh’s Way, Beech Mountain, was served with an order for arrest for failure to appear at a scheduled court date. He is scheduled to appear in district court on April 7.

Jeffrey A. Logan, 22, of 162 Georgia Ave., Boone, was served with a citation on charges of felony burglary with forced entry, felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury, injury to real property and injury to personal property. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on April 1 in lieu of a secured $25,000 bond.

Robert Brandon Simpkins, 24, of 2672 Golf Club Road, Danville, Va., was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of felony burglary with forced entry, felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury, injury to real property and injury to personal property. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on April 1 in lieu of a secured $25,000 bond.

Travis William Dowda Jr., 22, of 4732 Old Julian Road, Julian, was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of felony burglary with forced entry, felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury, injury to real property and injury to personal property. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on April 1 in lieu of a secured $25,000 bond.

March 6
An incident of breaking and entering was reported at a residence on the 1200 block of Highland Hall Road, Boone. The victim reported a person entered the home without the use of force.

Burglary with forced entry and criminal damage to property were reported at a residence on 3100 Clarks Creek Road in Banner Elk. The victim reported the door frame sustained $150 in damage.

Damage to property was reported was reported at a rental residence on the 300 block of Calloway Road in Boone. The victim reported a renter caused $3,300 in damage after being served with a eviction notice.


Darrick Lashunda Cassidy, 33, of 393 Jenwill Drive, Deep Gap, was served with a warrant for arrest on a charge of assault on a female. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on April 15.

Manolyn Nicole Watkins Ward, 36, of 207 Don Hayes Road, Boone, was served with a warrant on charges of felony possession of marijuana with intent to sell and/or deliver, and selling and/or deliver marijuana. She was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on April 17 in lieu of secured $2,500 bond.

March 7
A simple physical assault was reported at a residence on the 200 block of Park Road in Banner Elk. The victim reported having been punched in the stomach and pushed into a table.


A domestic assault between husband and wife was reported at a residence on the 200 block of Seminole Trail in Elk Park.

Fraud was reported on the 1600 block of Chestnut Grove Road in Boone. The victim reported a person used his/her credit card.

Larceny was reported on the 700 block of Rhymer Branch Road in Deep Gap. Power and hand tools, valued at $1,100, were reported stolen.


Larceny was reported at an apartment on the 100 block of Azor Court in Boone. The victim reported a cell phone and other items stolen.

Daniel Patrick Triplett, 36, of 722 Rhymer Branch Road, Deep Gap, was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of felony possession of a firearm by felony, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and/or deliver methamphetamine and manufacturing marijuana. He is in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on April 17 in lieu of a secured $50,000 bond.


Jessie Wayne Bennett, 45, 424 Hickory Lane, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of larceny and injury to personal property. He is scheduled to appear in district court on March 27 in lieu of an unsecured $1,000 bond.

Jeffrey Charles Roberts, 36, address listed as homeless, was served with an order for arrest for failure to appear in district court in lieu of a secured $1,000 bond.

March 8
Burglary and larceny were reported at a residence on the 900 block of Friendship Church Road in Boone. The home was entered without the use of force and a Glock firearm, ammunition and two computers were stolen.

Simple physical assault and assault with a deadly weapon was reported on the 300 block of Brook Hollow Road in Boone. The victim reported having been hit with hands, fists and a blunt object.

A breaking and entering, criminal damage to property and larceny were reported at a residence on the 200 Cool Water Creek in Vilas. The victims reported the front door, interior and exterior wall, windows, railing on front deck, cabinet doors and a washing machine were damaged in the home.

Brandon Michael Jeffs, 24, of 423 W. Pine Swamp Road, Fleetwood, was served with an order for arrest for failure to appear at a scheduled court date. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in April 24 in lieu of a secured $500 bond.

Gary Wayne Long Jr., 22, of 215 Liberty Landing Drive, Fleetwood, was served with a warrant for arrest on a charge of communicating threats and is scheduled to appear in district court on April 17.

Ricky Dean Cook, 35, of 1762 Silverstone Road, Zionville, was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of possession with intent to sell and/or deliver marijuana, manufacture marijuana and maintaining vehicle and/or dwelling for purposes related to controlled substance. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on March 10 in lieu of a secured $5,000 bond.

Crystal Lynn Jackson, 23, of 140 Cannon Drive, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. She is scheduled to appear in district court on April 17 in lieu of an unsecured $500 bond.
