WHS golfers take third
From staff reports
LENOIR — Watauga’s golf team placed third in a match last Thursday that the Pioneers were invited to attend at the last minute.
Ben Beason and Garrett Shore each fired a nine-holes round of 44, while John Reynolds and Dylan Cook each had a 49.
“I believe we are several weeks and several matches from being able to produce scores that are more in line with what the boys are capable of,” Watauga coach Mike Northern said. “ Our goal is to hang on and compete for one of the top three spots in the Northwest 4-A conference and make regionals. We can accomplish this by staying focused throughout the season, taking one match at a time and not becoming discouraged early because we have had limited practice and preseason non-conference matches.”
