Parents can still apply for free
or reduced price lunch program
Watauga County Schools issued a statement Monday reminding parents of the Free and Reduced Price Lunch Program.
“We here at Watauga County Schools realize that times are tough,” said Susan Trivette, child nutrition director. “Economic conditions are putting a strain on all of us in every area of our lives.”
If the financial conditions of parents and guardians have changed since the last application for the program was completed, the application may be submitted for review.
If a child is already receiving free meals, there is no need to re-apply.
For a student currently receiving reduced lunch prices, parents can contact Trivette via telephone at (828) 264-7190 to check eligibility for free meals.
Applications can be picked from the child nutrition manager within each school or from the Watauga County Schools central office located at 175 Pioneer Trail in Boone or either branch of Watauga County public libraries. Parents may call and request an application at the above number.
Completed applications should be mailed to Trivette at the central office address.
All applications and program inquiries are confidential. More information and eligibility guidelines are available at the Watauga County Schools Web site at www.watauga.k12.nc.us through the Parents link.
