in connection to

Howard Street graffiti
By Melanie Davis

Investigators with the Boone Police Department have arrested two individuals in connection to graffiti in the Howard Street area.

Margolis

Jacob Morris Margolis, 21, of Zionville, was arrested Friday and Matthew Thomas Proctor, 22, of Boone was arrested Monday on charges of criminal damage to property. Margolis was also charged with one count of assault.

According to the police department, the damages to the property on Howard Street were estimated in excess of $1,200.

These arrests are in relation to graffiti on the former Wilcox Emporium property. In a statement, BPD said the court will be petitioned to request that the suspects, if convicted, be liable for the damages and ordered to pay restitution to the property owners.

“We have seen an increase in property damage in the area and have increased patrols,” said master police officer Carl Underwood. “We hope additional arrests will be forthcoming.”

Proctor

Margolis is scheduled to appear in district court on March 24, and Proctor is scheduled to appear on March 27.
