Vandals deface

downtown business
By Melanie Davis

A reward is being offered by a Howard Street business for information following graffiti vandalism.

ECR Software is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the successful arrest and conviction of those responsible for spray painting on the exterior of its business early Sunday morning.

Surveillance images were captured by ECR Software security cameras and have been released by the Boone Police Department (right).

Several businesses on Howard Street and King Street have been affected by graffiti, possibly during the same time period.

“Boone has experienced a rash of ‘tagging’ type graffiti in the King Street and Howard Street areas,” BPD Sgt. Matt Stevens said. “Tagging and vandalism in general is an ongoing problem.”

Anyone with information regarding the vandalism is asked to call the BPD at (828) 268-6936.

An additional reward may be available through Watauga County Crimestoppers, which pays a reward for information leading to arrests, recovery of stolen property, seizure of drugs and the location of wanted persons.

Confidential calls may be made to Crimestoppers at (828) 268-6959.
