Appalachian State head football coach Jerry Moore will be enshrined into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. The announcement was made Tuesday.
Moore, in 20 years at Appalachian State, led the Mountaineers to three Division I-AA/Football Championship Subdivision national championships from 2005-07. The Mountaineers have won four straight Southern Conference titles from 2005-08.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Appalachian State junior Frank Celorrio was named Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for matches from Jan. 14-20, the league office announced Wednesday.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - When Chattanooga’s women’s basketball team turns things up a notch, they’re difficult to stop. When they do it against a team that is struggling, like Appalachian State, the Mocs are almost impossible to beat.

Appalachian State’s women’s track and field team was dominant Saturday at its second home meet of the season as six Mountaineers captured first place finishes, and numerous others posted solid showings to start the 2009 season.

RUTHERFORDTON - There was some concern if Watauga could duplicate the intensity it needed to beat Chase that the Pioneers generated in a draining double-overtime victory over Northwestern 4-A Conference rival Alexander Central just one day earlier.

WHS girls blast Chase
RUTHERFORDTON - It took Watauga about two hours to make the trip to East Rutherford High School to play Chase in the MLK Holiday Hoops Classic Tournament. It took about eight minutes off the scoreboard clock for the Pioneers to put little doubt in the outcome of their game.
